2015 North Channel Race

Nice showing from our fleet this past Saturday with 7 out for the final DRYA race of the season in warm and windy conditions.

This Saturday is the Bayview Yacht Club North Channel Race. It is the last race of our championship counters for 2015, and more importantly is a classic and epic endeavor that says so much about what it means to be a Cal 25 sailor. Registration (free) is here: http://yachtscoring.com/emenu.cfm?eID=1500 We have 9 Cal 25s signed up so far (yes, I intend to be on one;)) – let’s double that number. Sailing Instructions do not appear to be posted yet, but they are as follows:

1) Wake up really early and put on a bunch of layers.
2) Put on more layers.
3) Confirm with all aboard that the wind will not build through the day more than it is blowing at 8 am.
4) Start at Grosse Pointe Club.
5) Go north until you get near shallow water. Stay in not so shallow water.
6) Pretend you truly meant to gently touch ground a few times.
7) Round the Russell Island buoy, leaving it to starboard.
8) Enjoy a nice ride downstream to Bayview.

Saturday October 3: BYC North Channel (distance)
Tuesday October 27th 7:00 pm: Fall meeting at CSYC

Thanks,

Dave
