Looking for repair assistance

I recently bought a Cal25 in Louisiana. It is my first boat and I plan to use it to learn to sail, do some cruising and thought restoring it would be a fun project.

I looked at your site before I purchased the boat to check against common problems and didn’t find the mast to be sagging which probably have been a deal-breaker.

I purchased the boat for $1100 and I’m looking at replacing the electric system and a complete restoration of the interior. There is quite a bit of rot, although the boat doesn’t seem to leak. The paneling, and floor, and most places where there is plywood, besides the ceiling needs to be replaced.

I am seeking advice on how to go about this. I have experience in construction of houses as well as woodworking making instruments, but I wanted to reach out to the Cal25 experts and enthusiasts as I undertake this project.

It seems that to race the boat, there are laws and regulations which I would like to keep in mind, and also, I don’t want to do anything blasphemous against the boat and I’m not sure what the etiquette and customs are that apply to a project like this. Thanks for the website. It has been helpful so far and I look forward to hearing from you and appreciate any advice or direction you can offer.

Best,
Jackson
